Before the walls of Athens.

  1. Enter two other Senators with a Messenger.

Third Senator

1 - 2
  1. Thou hast painfully discover’d; are his files
  2. As full as thy report?

Messenger

3 - 5
  1.                        I have spoke the least.
  2. Besides, his expedition promises
  3. Present approach.

Fourth Senator

  1. We stand much hazard if they bring not Timon.

Messenger

7 - 14
  1. I met a courier, one mine ancient friend,
  2. Whom, though in general part we were oppos’d,
  3. Yet our old love made a particular force,
  4. And made us speak like friends. This man was riding
  5. From Alcibiades to Timon’s cave
  6. With letters of entreaty, which imported
  7. His fellowship i’ th’ cause against your city,
  8. In part for his sake mov’d.
  1. Enter the other Senators.

Third Senator

  1.                             Here come our brothers.

First Senator

16 - 19
  1. No talk of Timon, nothing of him expect.
  2. The enemy’s drum is heard, and fearful scouring
  3. Doth choke the air with dust. In, and prepare:
  4. Ours is the fall, I fear, our foes the snare.
  1. Exeunt.
