  1. Enter Lord Scales upon the Tower, walking. Then enters two
  2. or three Citizens below.

Lord Scales

  1. How now? Is Jack Cade slain?

First London Citizen

2 - 5
  1. No, my lord, nor likely to be slain; for they have won the
  2. Bridge, killing all those that withstand them. The Lord
  3. Mayor craves aid of your honor from the Tower to defend the
  4. city from the rebels.

Lord Scales

6 - 12
  1. Such aid as I can spare you shall command,
  2. But I am troubled here with them myself;
  3. The rebels have assay’d to win the Tower.
  4. But get you to Smithfield and gather head,
  5. And thither I will send you Matthew Goffe.
  6. Fight for your king, your country, and your lives,
  7. And so farewell, for I must hence again.
  1. Exeunt.
